Perhaps it is only October but our house is c-c-c-cold. Hot water bottles have become part of our nightly routine. The girls have been snuggling up to these warm rubber things for a couple of weeks now and it was high time to make them sweaters -- that is the water bottles. I made them sweaters out of sweaters. One of them you might recognize -- it wasn't getting worn, so here it is in its third life.
I found this free knitting pattern that I really like but I needed something that could be finished in the time it takes Matt to give the girls a bath, brush teeth, and read a few books. I just used the bottles as a pattern and personalized each one with the girls' names using the free motion embroidery foot on felt. I used velcro along the bottom to close it up. They are a bit of a funky shape but do their jobs.
This morning with the house being 54 degrees and Fran's wool long johns hanging to dry, a new pair of sweater pants was in order. She was very patient knowing that I was making something for her. Here is a good tutorial if you are in need of instructions. They are easier to make than they are to photograph.
We are heading up to camp tomorrow for a weekend of celebrating my mom's birthday. There will be lots of fireside knitting and eating of cake. Have a great weekend. Stay cozy and warm!
