I knit. Often. You know this. But I rarely keep anything for myself. My children, others' children, my craft show pile, and etsy customers are the recipients of most of my projects. I have three hand knit sweaters that are ragged and pill-y and all knit pre-kid. The hat I have been wearing this season is one I made years ago before Karin, thankfully, pointed out that I was twisting my stitches. This seems all wrong. I am a knitter and should start dressing like one.
I happened upon an amazing skein of yarn at the last craft show I did. I saw it on Saturday and didn't buy it. I went home and thought about it for hours, hoping it would still be there the next day. Do you know that feeling? It was there and it was mine. It is hand dyed and spun merino by Jill Draper and the color is called Chocolate Dipped. Yum!
The yarn has been sitting patiently on my shelf just begging to be wound up into a ball since the beginning of December. The past couple of nights I made myself a hat.
Anytime I am knitting I feel as though I am knitting for myself because I love it so much. I love giving (and selling) my creations but still I think I am going to make a bit of an effort this year to pamper myself and keep a few things. You should too.
